Environment & Society Print Books: Books

How do I find these books?

The print books at the Paul Smith's College Library are organized using the Dewey Decimal System. The galleries below show you a sample of print books we have in the subject areas If you click on the book cover you will be lead to the library book's landing page where you can read a summary.

Notice the number underneath the titles-->those are the Dewey Decimal "Call Numbers" that you will use to locate the book within our collection on the 2nd floor. They are also listed on the library book's landing page.

We also recommend you check out our New Books shelf at the front of the building for brand new non-fiction.

The DDS divides content into general subject areas. Each of the 10 Main Classes can be further divided for example from broad ranges to the most specific such as below. When reading the Call Number think of it as if it were dollars and cents. For example: 595.23 comes before 595.30. When in doubt, add a 0 (zero) to even out the digits after the decimal.
