The Joan Weill Adirondack Library is dedicated to providing quality resources in support of our academic programs and part of that mission involves preserving and making available information about the history of the college, the legacy of the Paul Smith's Hotel Company and relevant local history.

  • Many of the archives materials, including historic photographs and publications, are available online at the New York Heritage Digital Collection.
  • The documents listed here are descriptors of some of the contents found in the archives.
  • This collection contains the surviving records documenting the development and history of the Paul Smith's Hotel Company from 1872 through reminiscences written about the hotel in 1994.
  • The collection documents the early land-buying and building of the company, through the growth of the popular hotel, the rise of other businesses spun off from the Hotel Company, and even some personal material belonging to the men who ran the Hotel over the years.
  • Finding Aid for Paul Smith's Hotel Company Papers, 1872-1994
  • This collection contains a wide variety of records primarily created by the Smith Family during their reign as an influential and wealthy Adirondack family.
  • Its earliest dated items are letters of Lydia Martin Smith. The correspondence spans the entire career of Paul (Appolos A.) Smith and his wife and sons.

  • The Brownell Collection contains survey, maps, land contracts, correspondences and financial documents primarily related to the settlement of Castorland in the western Adirondacks and the land holdings of Vincent and James LeRay de Chaumont.

  • In March, 1933 the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was established as a jobs and training program for young men and in October 1934 a CCC camp was established on the shores of Osgood Pond in Paul Smith's.
  • The collection contains photos, correspondence and newspaper articles on the role and impact of the CCC.

  • This collection contains many of Paul Smith's College's campus publications.
  • It spans from the very earliest days of the school's administration and student body to recent years and is an ever-expanding collection.
  • It reflects a spectrum ranging from professional publicity publications to faculty newsletters. Several of the Paul Smith's College publications are available online at the New York Heritage Digital Collection page.
